In 2014, with the desire to cultivate natural curiosity, the Petits Voladors Project was born, making -MÓN- La Bassa the only animal sanctuary with its own school in the world. The Petits Voladors project, now transformed into Escola Voladors, educate children in order to love and respect life, in all its manifestations. At -MÓN- La Bassa animals and children coexist in a peaceful, loving, and respectful way.
Escola Volador is an education project for children from 1 to 6 years old. At Escola Volador, there is a conscious support for the integral development of children with respectful ratios in order to be able to keep an eye on the needs of each child and each family.
Emotional education, values education, active learning, citizen participation, and respect for all forms of life are especially important in this educational space.
In the daily life of the children in Escola Voladors; free play, creative and artistic expression, exciting and motivating educational proposals, interaction with their environment with excursions, visits from people who show us what they are engaged in, responsibilities in household chores, participation in the care of farm animals and, above all, the enjoyment of human and animal friendships are all part of the school day.
The project started in September 2014 with the help of -MÓN- La Bassa, a non-profit association that aims to promote animal welfare and this and other educational projects. The main project for the future is the creation of a primary school of the same pedagogical line. This will be done with the expansion of the animal shelter where the animals rescued by -MÓN- La Bassa lives.
The educational activities take place at -MÓN- La Bassa, which is located in the municipality of El Vendrell (Tarragona, Catalonia), in the Plaza de Mar, area listed as a Wildlife Refuge and Agricultural Protection.
